Definition: The absolute value of any number or set of numbers is
the positive value of that number or set of numbers. The absolute
value or any number or set or numbers is shown by placing vertical
lines in front of and following the number or set of numbers.
Thus, the absolute value of 2 - 5 is written as |2 - 5| and
is equal to +3. This is written in shorthand form as |2 - 5| = |-3| = +3.
Note also that -|2 - 5| = -|-3| = -3.
