Rule 2: The product or quotient of two signed numbers that have opposite signs is a neagative number.

(a) The product of - times - is

(b) The quotient of - divided by - is

(c) The product of times - is

(d) The quotient of - divided by is

Example:

Addition of numbers:
(1) 5 + 2 = 7
(2) 5 - 2 = 3
(3) -5 + 2 = -3
(4) -5 - 2 = -7

Multiplication of numbers:
(1) 5 * 2 = 10
(2) 5 * (-2) = -10
(3) -5 * 2 = -10
(4) -5 * (-2) = 10

Division of numbers:
(1) 5 / 2 = 2.5
(2) 5 / (-2) = -2.5
(3) -5 / 2 = -2.5
(4) -5 / (-2) = 2.5

To use the graphing calculator below for division, enter -5/(-2) into the
Function f(x)= box. Then click on the Plot Graph button.
The answer will appear as f(x)=2.5 below the Function f(x)=box.
Each of the operations above can be entered as shown.
