Problem 3

Select a different problem

Suppose a plot is measured to be square feet.
You are asked to find the area in square meters.
The solution requires using the following three conversion multipliers each used twice:

click refresh (F5) , click refresh (F5) , and click refresh (F5) .

The area A = m2.

Example:
Suppose a plot is measured to be 70 square feet.
You are asked to find the area in square meters.
The solution requires using three conversion multipliers each used twice:

click refresh (F5) , click refresh (F5) , and click refresh (F5) .

This can be written as click refresh (F5)

Note how ft2, in2, and cm2 cancel in the conversions.

To solve this using the graphing calculator below,
enter 70(12^2)(2.54^2)/(100^2) into the Function f(x) = box.
Then click on the Plot Graph button.
The answer is displayed below the Function f(x)=box as f(x)= 6.5032... .
