Given:
Two cars were miles apart at p.m. and headed directly
toward each other. If they collided at p.m., find the velocities of both
cars if the second car was traveling miles per hour faster than the first car.

Example:

At t1 = 1 a.m. two trains were D = 700 miles apart and headed toward each other.
If they collided at t2 = 11 a.m., find the velocities of both trains if
one was traveling v2 = v1 + 30 miles per hour faster than the other.

In shorthand form the problem can be written as follows:
v1(t2 - t1) + v2(t2 - t1) = D........(1)
and v2 = v1 + 30 ................(2)
Substituting (2) into (1) and solving for v1 gives
